If you’re ready to take your game to the next level, we have the insight and exercises you need to add to your training to improve technique and test your game in preparation for those clutch tournament moments.

Whether you’re just learning to throw the ball or you’re looking to make the leap from enthusiast to expert, the most important thing every bowler has to understand is that it all comes down to the basics. Bowling basics are the groundwork for a proper, consistent stroke. If you can implement the keys to a good bowling stroke every time on the lane, you stand to score high. If you get too far in your head and stray from the bowling basics, you make things a whole lot tougher for yourself. That’s why it’s so important to perfect the bowling basics in practice, so they translate to the real thing.

Bowling basics for a consistent stroke

It’s realistically impossible to keep advancing as a bowler if you can’t improve your bowling basics. What we mean by the bowling basics is the way you start your approach up to when you release the ball. Basically, can you make every movement count?

To help you further your technique and challenge your precision on the lanes, bowling coaches Rod Ross and Kim Terrell-Kearney teach you a handful of exercises you can incorporate into your training regimen. You can practice these bowling bowling release drills at home or on the lane to discover how to ease your grip and maximize the power in your hand.

Then, the coaches talk about some of the ways to utilize proper bowling basics to learn how to pick up spares more often. So much happens between the pushaway and the release, it can be kind of daunting to get it all right. But Rod and Kim demonstrate why it’s vital to make the right decision and get back to the bowling basics. Remember square one when you start to lose your way. Check your grip, correct your footwork, maintain posture and finish well, the rest will fall in line.
